August 2016: Whats new?

Hey All,

It’s been a while since I have posted and updated. August has been another crazy month. It is currently the freshest I can describe at this time.

To begin I was given the opportunity to interview for supervisor position with the Portland Timbers. For the past 5 years I have been an usher at the stadium and have loved every minute of it. On August 9th I was interviewed and on August 11th I got the word that I was chosen as one of the three new supervisors for next season. (I was a bit nervous but so stoked to have the opportunity as my snapchat below shows)

I am very excited for this next opportunity to grow in the organization and ready for the challenges I get to take on. I really couldn’t have taken the chance if it wasn’t for the support from fellow co-workers, family and my very  awesome girlfriend Christine.

Wow…alright…sweet, 9 days in and a great new growth in  my future.

Fast forward 4 days later and I find myself back in my hometown of Junction City and it is the weekend of the annual Scandinavian Festival. My schedule has been so busy this last few years I have missed this event but this year was cleared. Not only does this festival have great food, dancing, and cultural goodies/experience, it also has the 5k/10k road race. I was very excited for the event this year…my mother was going to do the event with me this year…well…part of the race with me anyway (she did the 5k, I did the 10k). My amazing mother works so hard and so I was very happy to have the chance to spend this time with my mama.

Below is our post run sweat pix. As you can see I was struggling and a little out of shape. My mother on the other hand, happy as ever.

The weekend wasn’t over once the race was finished. Later on this night was my 10 year high school reunion (YIKES that was fast!). It was a really fun time hanging out with friends from so long ago. I look forward to seeing the classmate in the future.

…So back to Portland for the work week and once 5 days past back to Eugene for my College Alumni Soccer Game. I try and make it to every Alumni game I can. This year I was the only on from the original team that started with the program at the college to make it. So that makes me the old man at 28????

As it stands I have made it to all the Alumni games that have started the last few years. It was fun playing with a lot of good players from after my time at Northwest Christian University. My mother caught a great picture of the one play of me stopping a through pass to one of the forwards on the other team.

Not bad for an out of shape 28 year old 6 years after his soccer prime :p

Alumni 2016

I did however get beat 3 or 4 times which did lead to perhaps 2 of the other guys 4 goals. I still take pride in this and 4 other key stops.

So anyways there is still more days left in the month of August to enjoy with more adventures. I also didn’t cover seeing Suicide Squad (which is a must as a comic book fan) which I would like to talk about a little. I have also enjoyed some great new craft beers and have some reviews on some great shows I have watched. Well until the next update…or likely an edit…Take care and thanks for reading!

First post from mobile

Well here we go. 1 month into my 28th trip around the bright beautiful orb in the sky I begin telling my story, thoughts, projects and experiences to the world. Being a guy in my mid to late 20s I come to you in this first post from my smartphone.

I post this photo below as my first test with this blog post. It was the first I could find that isn’t a silly picture of me documenting my beard and curly mustache. (Which has recently retired per gf request)
Anyway as my first test I believe this is a good start and looking forward to seeing where this journey goes.
